About Christina

Having fallen in love with the piano at a young age, Christina Greenwood began lessons at age five. They made their orchestral debut with the Ozark Festival Orchestra in 2008 at age ten after winning the Junior Young Artists Concerto Competition. They later placed as Alternate in the 2011 MTNA Junior Competition–Missouri and won the Federation of Music Clubs District V-A Junior Festival in 2014. Chris was a semi-finalist for the 2014 Fite Family Young Artist Competition and the Region IV winner for both the 2014 and 2015 Stillman-Kelly Competitions. In 2015, they also won the Marilyn Caldwell Piano Competition and the Lana Bailey Concerto Competition. Chris placed second in the Musicians West Piano Festival Competitions in 2017 and 2018, and first in 2019.

In 2018, Chris toured as the piano soloist with the Brigham Young University–Idaho Sinfonietta
on its Midwest Tour.

Chris studied with Dr. Stephen Thomas at Brigham Young University–Idaho, receiving a bachelor’s degree in piano performance in 2019. They continued their studies with Brian Connelly at Rice University and earned their master’s degree in piano performance in 2021. Chris taught at Rice as an adjunct faculty member from 2021 to 2022, and later served as a piano collaborator from 2022 to 2025. Recent engagements include performances of Mel Bonis’s Piano Trio in Duncan Hall at Rice University (October 2025), Benjamin Britten’s St. Nicolas Cantata as the orchestral pianist with the St. Thomas Episcopal Chorus in Houston, TX (February 2026), and with the International Pride Orchestra in the Cullen Theater at the Wortham Center (June 2026).

Enjoying a life full of music, Chris continues to work in Houston as a soloist, collaborative pianist, and piano teacher. In their free time, they enjoy arts and crafts, reading, running, and exploring new hobbies.
